Understanding Mental Health and Disorders
The Psychiatry clerkship equips students with the tools needed to diagnose and treat mental health disorders, integrating biological, psychological, and social factors. Students will conduct psychiatric interviews, assess emergencies, and develop treatment plans that incorporate both psychopharmacology and psychotherapy principles, all while maintaining cultural sensitivity.
Curriculum
Gaining Hands-On Experience
in Psychiatric Care
This 6-week rotation provides experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings, focusing on mental health care and emergency psychiatry. Students will learn how to manage complex psychiatric cases and develop skills in sensitive patient communication, setting them up for future roles in psychiatric care or integrated healthcare teams.
